Do you feel that there is any usefulness in numerology and astrology on a practical level?
Answer
Anything that helps you to focus your consciousness is helpful. Anything that supports self-enquiry is helpful. Any thing that supports you in embracing true responsibility is helpful. Anything that supports your awakening and helps you to live more fully in the present moment is helpful.
Astrology and numerology can be helpful in all of these ways, in the sense that they raise issues and perspectives and possibilities that you might not otherwise have become aware of. They open you to the more mystical aspects of life, where life is both profoundly mysterious and yet at the same time, divinely ordered.
On the other hand, astrology and numerology can foster a kind of dependency on things outside of you. They can support the illusion that truth and authority is somehow outside of you. They can also foster belief in illusion. After all, in the fully awakened state, there is only the moment of now. Astrology and numerology keep us involved in the world of time and the world of cause and effect.
Even if astrology and numerology are useful, you will eventually arrive at a point where you need to surrender all forms to enter fully into the awakened state. This is true whether the form is astrology or numerology or some other spiritual practice or discipline. Ultimately, even the practice of meditation is surrendered into the moment of now.
